Thanks For Coming!!

The day started with blanket snow conditons across most of the country, making travel impossible for many. But a brave and hardy 500 souls turned out for the first ever Reading Eco Veggie Fayre, and enjoyed an eclectic mix of good food, shopping, information, entertainment and a great vibe all day. Thanks especially to Steve and Sophie and all at Beanies, and our hosts Reading Town hall - you are amazing!! And for all those who travelled, stallholders, speakers, entertainers, workers and visitors alike, thanks peeps, it was brilliant and very much appreciated

Kids Activities and Cookery Classes

Should Reading adopt a 'meat free day'?

Should Reading adopt a 'Meat Free' day once a week to help the environment? That's the subject of our great debate at 4pm at the show. You can also vote on the matter here

Live Music from El Camino, Brassneck Pop and La Mort Subite

El Camino are a Reading based duo who perform an acoustic set of Latin and world music, on at 1pm for 45 minutes at the show, followed by La Mort Subite at 3pm. Check out www.myspace.com/elcaminolatinband and www.myspace.com/lamortsubite

Global Food Security + Livestock Farming

25 years on from Live Aid, Dr Stephen Walsh from The Vegan Society is an expert in this field - and in his groundbreaking talk at 5pm he examines how Livestock Farming may be responsible for Global food shortages, and how by eating an plant based diet we can help developing countries manage their own Food production, as well as our own health. Dr Walsh is also on hand in the 'Meet the Experts' room at 3.00pm to answer  any questions about plant based nutrition.

The first 200 visitors through the door at the Reading Eco Veggie Fayre will receive a FREE goody bag worth over £10, including a selection from the following - copy of Off the Hoof magazine, Provamel flavoured desserts and soya milk, cans of Attitude herbal drink, Seagreens condiments, Ecover washing up liquid, Qi teas, Nakd pineapple infused raisins, Tropical Wholefoods dried oyster mushrooms and sun dried tomatoes, Rude Health muesli and lots more!

Evere wanted to learn how to cook the perfect veggie xmas dinner? Now's your chance with Helen's exotic and tantalizingly sumptious recipes, including free samples and a chance to chat one to one with Helen later in the Meet The Experts Room to ask her to divulge further secrets. Helens demo starts at 12.00 midday and her 'experts' session is from 1.00pm - 2.00pm

 

Tony Wardle - Saving the World with your Knife and Fork

A highly informative talk from Tony Wardle,

Tony is a journalist, writer and award-winning TV producer and helped found Viva!. He is now is editorial director. He co-authored The Silent Ark with Viva! and VVF founder, Juliet Gellatley. A passionate and experienced speaker, Tony is a recognised authority on the environmental impact of meat and dairy, he also authored a substantial report on the topic Diet of Disaster.
